Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Introduction

Ease ("we," "our," "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (optional), and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Usage Data: We track the number of messages you send per day for rate-limiting purposes. This data is associated with your email address.

Chat Content: Your conversations with the Ease AI are stored to provide chat history functionality. These conversations may contain sensitive personal information about your health concerns.

Self-Reported Data: If you use Pro features, you may voluntarily provide information about your anxiety triggers, worry themes, helpful strategies, and personal notes. You may also log worries in the Scare Journal.

Program Progress: We track your progress through guided programs including which days you've completed.

Payment Information: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide and operate the Service; personalize your AI interactions (Pro feature); generate insights and pattern analysis (Pro feature); generate therapist reports at your request (Pro feature); enforce rate limits; process payments; improve the Service; communicate with you about your account.

4. AI Processing

Your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI-generated responses. Anthropic processes this data according to their own privacy policy and data retention practices. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's Privacy Policy for more information.

For Pro users, your self-reported context (triggers, themes, strategies) is included in AI prompts to personalize responses. Pattern analysis and therapist reports involve sending your aggregated data to the AI for analysis.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on our servers. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including password hashing (bcrypt) and secure session management. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with: Anthropic (for AI processing); Stripe (for payment processing); law enforcement if required by law.

We do not share your chat content, worry logs, or self-reported data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to: access your personal data through the Service; delete your account and associated data through Settings; export your data via the Therapist Report feature; clear your chat history at any time.

When you delete your account, we remove your user profile, chat history, worry journal, and self-reported data. Rate-limiting records associated with your email may be retained to prevent abuse.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication (session management via NextAuth.js). We use browser local storage to save your theme preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

10. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, your data is removed promptly except as noted in Section 7. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytical purposes.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
